One of Croatia's leading real estate agencies, Opereta, whose founder and director is Borislav Vujović, participated for the first time in mid-September at the 18th Shanghai Real Estate and Investment Exhibition, which is otherwise the number one international fair of its kind in the PRC.

After returning to Croatia, Vujović confirms to Poslovni.hr the existence of serious interest from potential Chinese buyers in Croatian properties, including various greenfield projects, be it hotels or plain construction. However, Vujović also mentions the existence of certain problems that currently appear as limiting factor for strengthening the presence of interested Chinese investors on the Croatian real estate market. The key problem presents the fact that between Croatia and China there is no reciprocity, Vujović says, so purchasing property is allowed exclusively to legal entities. "Furthermore, what Croatia currently does not offer, but which the Chinese predominantly find interesting, is the golden visas that in some EU countries can be obtained directly upon purchasing property. This is a magnet that would attract the largest number of interested buyers to purchase property in Croatia, and it is actually one of the key factors in making an investment decision to purchase property in Europe," notes Vujović. At the exhibition, the current property offers, as well as development investment projects in Croatia, were presented. The predominant interest was directed towards the wider area of the City of Zagreb and the Croatian coast. "We decided to take a step further to new markets precisely with the intention of increasing and attracting the interest of the investment community primarily from the Far East towards the City of Zagreb and Croatia as a whole, and we have had a successful appearance. In connection with this, we have prepared an informative brochure of about 30 projects in a special edition in Chinese for offering projects to local investors," explains our interlocutor. Today, in Shanghai, there are also a delegation from the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, led by President Luk Burilović. The exhibition was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the People's Republic of China Dario Mihelin, as well as the Director of the HGK office in Shanghai Dražen Holmik. The aforementioned certainly positively reflected on the rise in importance of this initiative, which has also been recognized in the community of Chinese investors interested in investing in the new EU member states. "Considering that Shanghai and Zagreb are friendly cities, the trends of strengthening legal security for investors and increasing the number of quality investment opportunities, all this, together with Croatia's exceptional geographical location, the new and high-quality air infrastructure that generates a stable growth in the number of arrivals, we have good premises not only for a high-quality and successful appearance at the exhibition," concludes Vujović. source: poslovni.hr
